The Deptford Mice Wiki

Blind Brass Biscuits are a baked item given to young mice who have not yet received their mousebrasses as part of the lead up to the Great Spring Festival. With the first bite, they are to wish for the sign that will see them throughout their adult lives.

A recipe for Blind Brass Biscuits attributed to Gwen Triton is below:

12oz flour
2 tsp of ground ginger
6oz brown sugar
4 tbsp of treacle
2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
4oz butter
1 egg
1 tsp ground cinnamon

Mix together the flour, bicarbonate of soda, ginger and cinnamon into a bowl, then rub in the butter and stir in the sugar. Add the treacle and egg, then knead until smooth. Roll out the mixture and cut out ring shapes with two different sized cups, then bake in a medium oven for about 10 minutes. When the brass biscuits are cool they are ready to eat.
