Fieldmice, also known as harvest mice, can be found in rural areas throughout Britain. They have russet gold fur and are noticeably smaller than their house mouse relatives. In fact, they are the smallest of all European rodents. The nests of fieldmice are spherical and attached to stems high above the ground. These are specially constructed in the summer months. Most of the time fieldmice live together in communities that are centred in cornfields, which provide them with the resources they need for food and shelter.
