The Deptford Mice is a 2010 stage play created by London-based theatre company Tiny Dog Productions. Made under licence from Robin Jarvis, it follows the plot of the first book in The Deptford Mice trilogy, The Dark Portal. It was adapted by Ed Young and Keith Wallis. After successful preview showings at The Space Theatre, London, the production was again performed in April 2011 at the New Wimbledon Theatre.

Official synopsis[]

The Deptford Mice is a dark fantasy adventure following the fates of the brave mice of the skirtings as they battle against the rats in the sewers of Deptford. Adapted from Robin Jarvis's beloved children's book The Dark Portal, The Deptford Mice is a family show filled with danger, excitement, psychic bats and swashbuckling pirates.

Searching for her missing father, Audrey Brown climbs through the grill away from the safety of the skirtings and into the unforgiving sewers. There she uncovers an ancient evil that has been summoned by Jupiter, the malevolent god of rats. If the mice are to survive, Jupiter must be stopped!

Combining animation, puppetry, stage-combat, original music and mind-boggling physicality, the show creates a story where adults and children alike can be transported from everyday life into a world where our combined fates rest in the tiny paws of the bravest mice in the world.
