The Fir Realm was one of the five royal houses of black squirrels. Those of the Fir were skilled musicians, and it was said that they could lull their enemies to sleep by its power. Their queen wore a gold fir cone around her neck. The realm was eventually destroyed from within. 2 January has become known as The Day of the Fir, and is set aside to remember them.
Minstrels from the Fir Realm were sent to Greenreach to play music at Ysabelle's coronation as the Starwife.
