Wassail Night was a holiday observed by squirrels which took place on 29 December. The inhabitants of the five squirrel realms would parade in a solemn procession to their particular sacred tree. There they would pour libations of bread and ale upon its roots while singing the traditional wassailing carol. The lyrics are below.

Wassail wassail, from poor to the crown
Our bread it is white and our ale it is brown
Our bowl it is made of this sacred tree
All are true servants who drink unto thee

Trivia[]

  • The wassailing carol of the squirrels is based on the Gloucestershire Wassail, a version of which can be heard here.
